3D, Wi-Fi, and swiveling lenses

This year so many new, intriguing features packed into camcorders-from those at the high end, like the Sony NEX-VG10, $2000, which can accept interchangeable SLR lenses, to those at the entry-level, like the Panasonic HM-TA1, $165, which can double as a webcam for your computer. So if you're looking for a camcorder to give as a holiday gift and need help choosing the right type, be it a full-size HD or SD model, or a smaller pocket model, you're in luck.

Here are some standouts from our new Ratings:
Panasonic has been betting big on 3D this year by including such features in some of their HDTVs. So it wasn't surprising when they introduced the Panasonic HDC-SDT750, $1400, an HD camcorder with 3D capabilities. Yes, it's pricey, but it's packed with features. And the HDC-SDT750 doesn't force you to shoot only 3D video: It comes with a 3D accessory that fits over the 12x optical zoom lens, which means you can switch between shooting 3D and 2D quickly and easily.
