Optical viewfinders on digital cameras have gone the way of the dodo bird: you just don't see them out there in the electronic landscape anymore, particularly on entry-level point-and-shoots.
However, Canon seems bent on bringing back this feature from extinction, albeit in a very modest way. Canon's PowerShot A1200, $110, a 12-megapixel subcompact, will include an optical viewfinder, which can be helpful when you're shooting in bright light and the camera's LCD gets washed out.
The camera will also include a 4x optical zoom, shoot HD video, and accept AA batteries.
