At the Society for Information Display conference this week, Samsung and RealD announced they have signed a joint license agreement to start making displays that use a new 3D. The technology, called RDZ, essentially combine the best attributes of both active and passive 3D by moving the close activity from the glasses to the panel itself.
The computer monitor products will be available in the 23- to 27-inch range, slated to arrive early next year, but they will be followed up by better TVs, including 55-inch models.
The two companies have a strong supporter in director of Titanic, Avatar Mr. James Cameron, who said, "RealD and Samsung's new displays look fantastic and represent the next step in 3D home entertainment."
