New Toshiba LED LCD TVs

For those not interested in the pricier Toshiba 3D TVs we blogged about earlier this week, the company has two new LCD TV series with edge-mounted LED backlights. The more feature-laden UL605 series will offer the company's Net TV online service, while the SL400-series models focus on smaller screen sizes 32 inches or less. Both sport ultra-thin designs.

The UL605 models will be offered in 40-, 46- and 55-inch screen sizes, with prices ranging from $1,400 to $2,500. All are 120Hz models with Net TV access to online content, which is based on the vudu Apps platform, with access to streaming vudu movies.

Other features include "invisible" speakers, Dolby Digital Plus sound, and touch-sensitive power controls on the TV's frame. TVs in this series are Wi-Fi-enabled (they come with an adapter) for connecting wirelessly to a home network, and they are DLNA compliant, so you can access photos, music and videos stored on a PC.

SL400-series models, available in 19-, 22-, 26-, and 32-inch screen sizes, range in price from $350 to $700. All the sets, designed for smaller rooms in the house, have two HDMI inputs and a USB port for playing photos and music directly on the TV.
TVs in both series include a game mode designed to reduce latency between the remote control and on-screen action.

Here's a list of the new models, which are all now available, and suggested prices:
  • * 55UL605, $2,500
  • * 46UL605, $1,700
